On-line Board Meeting
August 8, 2010
Persons present: Brian Morrison, Cindy Volk, Leslie Greer, Suzanne Ehrlich, Laura Braucht, Cindy Farnham
Absent: Carolyn Ball, Annette Miner, Myrelis Aponte-Samalot
The meeting was opened by President Brian Morrison at 12:00 pm EST.
The minutes of the May 2010 meeting were approved.
President Report
Brian reported that he had attended the AVLIC conference and also presented at the Critical Link conference. He will also be attending the ASLIA conference in Australia at the end of August. Carolyn (Suzanne) moved that we reimburse Brian $2,000 for lost wages during his CIT travels this summer. Motion carried. (B10: 08).
Vice-President Report/Conference Report
Cindy F reported that she represented CIT at the NAOBI conference. She also reported that the scholarship awardees are selected. Brian is working on getting a parliamentarian. All Board members need to make their plane reservations to arrive on Sunday, October 24 and leave on Sunday, October 31. Cindy V is working on the Mary Stotler award. Cindy V reported that we have 3 sponsors and approximately 8 exhibitors for the conference. The officer nominations have been posted on the website.
Treasurer Report
We have $79,602.27 in the checking account and $21,483.47 and $32,123.54 in the two CDs.
Director of Professional Development Report
Laura discussed the idea of giving a copy of our latest journal to each presenter. Laura will check with Annette about whether the new journal will be ready before the conference. Laura also discussed the arrangements for Cindy Holt (Mary Stotler’s daughter). We will provide hotel, airfare, meals, etc. Leslie will contact Cindy Holt.
Director of Communications and Technology Report
Suzanne reported that her assistant Jenna will be responsible for the program book for the conference. Suzanne will be responsible for ordering 500-600 USB drives for the conference. Suzanne and Brian will work on updating the website.
Director of Research and Publications Report
Annette was not able to be connected to the meeting, but she informed Brian that the new journal is about 50/50 spoken and sign language as well as several international sign language contributors. There is also one student article.
Director of Public Relations and Outreach Report
Leslie will research getting CIT shirts for the board members prior to the conference.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:53 pm EST.
The next meeting will be held on Sunday, September 19 at 8:00 pm EST.
