Community College of Philadelphia is seeking a full-time, tenure-track ASL/English Interpreting Instructor or Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2014.The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in ASL, Deaf Culture, and interpreting. In addition, position will require program planning and development, curricular/course review and oversight, and supervision of multimedia interpreting lab. Participate in collaborative teaching, College life and maintaining networks within the local deaf and interpreting communities. Courses may be taught at any of our campus locations.
The successful applicant will have a Master’s Degree in teaching Sign Language, ASL/Deaf Studies, ASL/English Interpreting, interpreter pedagogy, linguistics, or closely related field. ASLTA certification required (or evidence of application in process. Applicant must have native or near-native fluency in ASL. The successful applicant will have expertise in using technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process and be able to work day and/or evening as needed.
