|Responsibilities||The National Interpreter Education Center (NIEC) is a project funded by a U.S. Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) grant aimed at assisting ongoing training programs to train a sufficient number of qualified interpreters to meet the communications needs of individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind nationwide. The NIEC Project Coordinator is responsible for one of the Center’s central concerns: Providing educational resources and technical assistance for the support of interpreting educators, administrators, and students in programs across the U.S. The NIEC Project Coordinator will coordinate and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of products including
IEP faculty development in teaching interpreting; trainings for faculty and administrators in ASL Standards and ASL proficiency assessment; web resources including instructional modules, curriculum resources, and student research projects. Evaluation is essential to this role as the Project Coordinator assists the director and evaluation team in collecting and reporting data, and works closely with identified interpreting education program administrators, faculty, and students in tracking and assessing the effectiveness of products and interventions. As the NIEC is one of six collaborating Centers, the NIEC Project Coordinator will participate as needed on one or two collaborative work teams. The position reports to the Director of the NIEC.
|Qualifications||Masters degree in interpreting education or related field, RID certification, a record of successful administration experience, experience and knowledge of online teaching platforms, and a record of successful experience teaching in an IEP.|
