One of the elements of the 2014 CIT Conference is health and wellness – how we can maintain good health and care for the body and achieve wellness (positive state of mind, connection, and purpose) for ourselves and how we can convey these values to students and colleagues.

Cathy Cogen, a certified yoga instructor, will offer three morning yoga classes during the Conference, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from 7:00–8:00 a.m. in the Mt. St. Helens Room at the Double Tree Hotel.
Pre-registration will be required and will be open in September.

Thursday – Chair Yoga

If you cannot possibly imagine yourself doing yoga, this session is for you! Chair yoga is increasingly popular as a way to gain strength, mobility, and peace of mind for people who may not see themselves as particularly athletic or who have an injury or other physical issue that makes it challenging to get up and down easily from the floor. Put on some comfortable clothes and come give it a try!

Friday – Gentle Yoga

This class is for people who have taken fewer than five yoga classes. We’ll do a gentle sequence of yoga asana (poses) to leave you feeling alert and relaxed, ready for the day. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat if you have one, or a towel.

Saturday – Slow Flow

This class is for people who practice with some regularity. It will be a little faster pace with more challenging poses. Wear comfortable clothing and bring your mat or a towel.


The Fine Print:  Yoga involves physical exertion which includes some risk of injury.  To participate, you will need to sign a liability release form before your first session.


About the Instructor

Cathy Cogen - yoga instructor
I have been a dancer, sign language interpreter, and teacher. These three paths converge for me in yoga. As a yoga teacher, I seek to empower my students in classes and private lessons to experience the joys of movement, self-discovery, and inner quiet. I have specialized training in teaching yoga to Seniors and certification as a Visual Yoga instructor. I’m currently teaching Deaf, DeafBlind, and hearing yogis in the Boston Area. — Cathy
